So now that pumpkins are in season for everything from food flavors, to decorations, to crafts…I’ve seen so many great ideas on how to integrate them into a centerpiece for your table. Now once upon a time, I made a floral arrangement using a real pumpkins and flowers for a get-together and I absolutely loved it. I received so many compliments on it and I particularly loved having something so festive sitting on my dining room table. The only down side was…real pumpkins go bad and flowers die so you don’t get to enjoy it all that long. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I had been itching to make a centerpiece but I wanted to enjoy it for awhile before just pitching it after the holiday was over. Now, I had seen the “carve-able” foam pumpkins at all the craft stores so I decided to give it a whirl. I purchased a medium sized white pumpkin on sale at Hobby Lobby for about $12 (the key is knowing and watching the sale rotation), then began perusing the aisles to find some pretty fall flowers. I found that it was easier to pick up some fall floral sprays so they were pre-cut and mixed. Those were also on sale for another $15. Once I got everything home, I grabbed a knife and cut out the top of the pumpkin to an appropriate sized opening. After setting the cut off top aside, I took the flowers and arranged them into a pattern that I liked and tied the stems together with a little twine. Then I just threw it into the pumpkin and voila! The centerpiece looks especially nice in the wooden tray my hubby just made…plans for that to come soon 😉
