So, gather your tools (as listed in the “Jewelry Making: What You Need” post) and we’ll get started. I’m using a pearly bead in these pictures, but you can use whatever bead meets your standard.
Directions
Step 1: Measure and cut 12 inches of wire.
Step 2: String your bead to the middle of the wire.
Step 3: Wrap the wire around the ring mandolin at your finger size. I have skinny fingers, so I’m making my ring at the size 6 notch. I wrapped the wire around the mandolin twice, but you can always cut your wire at a longer measurement, then wrap it three or four times, making the ring band wider.
Step 4: Start wrapping the ends of the wire around the bead, both going in the same direction.
Step 5: So, you’ve wrapped the wire around the bead as many times as desired. Now, take the ends and wrap the band of the ring on either side of the bead. I can wrap it with my hands, but I used my flat-nosed pliers to gently tighten the wrap.
Step 6: To finish the ring, I suggest tucking the ends of your wire under the rosette you made around the bead. Make sure that the ends aren’t somewhere where they could poke your finger. That gets uncomfortable way too fast.
And there you have it! A wire-wrapped ring! I’m going to be honest, I completely screwed this ring up and trimmed the excess wire off instead of tucking it under the rosette. A stupid mistake. Don’t do that. Other than that, I think that this turned out pretty good for such a simple ring. You can do all colors and wires, and you could have a ring for every outfit! Happy wrapping!
