Using Succulents in Your Decor

Succulents

Succulent Pots

So I’ve wanted to experiment with succulents for a very long time, but I’ve never had a great place to put them.  Well, after my hubs was kind enough to put up some cute wire shelves by a kitchen window, I finally had a place for them!  So began my hunt for succulent plants. Turns out it wasn’t that hard.  Menard’s had a special running so I got 2 plants for about 2 bucks each!
Succulent PotsMy next step was finding something to plant these in.  I didn’t really want to buy anything else since I was sure I had something tucked away within the bottomless pit…I mean super organized stash of cute decor.  Turns out I did have a few little pots and crocks that would be perfect.  I found several little glazed crocks that were my grandmother’s along with a cute little blue and white painted pot that we had found on our honeymoon way back when.  Succulents don’t need a ton of room, so these small containers were going to be perfect!
Succulent crocksPlanting those suckers literally only took about 5 minutes.  It was as easy as dropping them into the pots.  A few of the smushy leaflings (the technical term for succulent leaves) fell off in the process so I just threw those into little guys in another pot with some dirt, because fun fact, each smushy leafling is a seed!  You won’t need to water these much, maybe just a little bit once per week.
Voila!  I now have some adorable little succulent babies in my window adding some classy, country charm to my kitchen!  I am now hoarding any cute containers I could use…coffee cans, tea tins, and random tea cups from thrift stores come to mind.  Hmm…maybe I need another shelf ;).
Supplies:
